The subject matter of analysis is oronyms, i.e. the names of mountains and hills deriving from the names of plants and animals. The names of mountains can perform the function of localization (a relation between an object and the toponym), characterization (the topographic character of an object, the shape of an object, the quality of substrate, the fauna and flora in an area), they can express the relation between an object and a man (possessive names) and they can be a reflection of material or spiritual culture.
